It was the Canadian ballad that hit #1 in the U.S. 4 years after members of the band behind the music went their separate ways. WHEN I’M WITH YOU was released in 1982, but was left unnoticed, causing the band SHERIFF to put their musical career to rest. In 1988, a radio jock decided to give the song airplay, and that’s when it caught on, causing WHEN I’M WITH YOU to top the charts. Unfortunately, the band never got together again to replicate their success. Here’s their only hit: WHEN I’M WITH YOU.
The 90s has but a sole one hit wonder. HOW DO YOU TALK TO AN ANGEL featuring Jamie Walters on lead vocals was the theme for the TV series THE HEIGHTS. The song hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 on November 14, 1992, but the series was canceled exactly one week after the song fell from its peak position. The track is thus the second (Miami Vice being the first) television show theme song in Billboard’s history to top the chart, from an artist that has never produced a hit since then.
Here is HOW DO YOU TALK TO AN ANGEL.
